The California Supreme Court struck down the state's ban on same-sex marriage Thursday, saying sexual orientation, like race or gender, "does not constitute a legitimate basis upon which to deny or withhold legal rights."

In a 4-3 120-page ruling issue, the justices wrote that "responsibly to care for and raise children does not depend upon the individual's sexual orientation."

"We therefore conclude that in view of the substance and significance of the fundamental constitutional right to form a family relationship, the California Constitution properly must be interpreted to guarantee this basic civil right to all Californians, whether gay or heterosexual, and to same-sex couples as well as to opposite-sex couples," Chief Justice Ronald George wrote for the majority.

For every car made in America, $1700 of its price is paid for the health care of its workers. The competitors of American car companies do not have this overhead, because they are in countries that have health care mandated by the government.

The claim that Vista is less secure than Windows 2000 was made last week by security vendor PC Tools, which said that over the past six months Vista had suffered 639 unique threats, whereas Windows 2000 has suffered 586. I can see MS point of view, no user should be opening files emailed to them from people they don't know. Things like that shouldn't be done. Also, I can see how users might want to turn off some of the annoyances in Vista, which would defeat its security.

And some people were beginning to think Vista was safer than Mac OS X.

The vatican is now open to the idea that God may have created other beings in the Universe.

This is a big step forward from thinking Man is the centre of the universe.

Currently, only Hinduism and Buddhism is adaptable to sentient beings, be they terrestrial or extraterrestrial.

Now if they can accept ET, when can they accept God created gays and lesbians too?

Last week the world became outraged at the indifference the Burmese government has towards its own people. Todays monster earthquake in China is already a stark difference in contrast. Already, the government has issued over 6000 troops to help its people, and has set aside millions of dollars to aid them.

Despite having still having a totalitarian instinct, China is far more open and friendlier to its people than is the militaristic governed Burma.

I've been listening to the Chinese side of the story when it comes to the China-Tibet issue. While I have a lot of discontent with the brutish way the Chinese have clamped down on the Tibetan free speech movement, there is another side of the story. The Chinese have improved the way of life for the Tibetans. Before the Chinese took full control of Tibet, the common tibetan was a slave to the authorities. That was their way of life for centuries, and the Communists despised that inequality. I doubt the Dalai Lama wants to return to the old ways, in fact he isn't calling for independence - he is calling for autonomy, which is what Hong Kong has. If its good enough for HK, why not for Tibet?

I'm beginning to wonder how much of the US economic woes are to do with the clampdown on illegal immigration. Sure, the dollar is weak, the barrel of oil is skyrocketing, the Iraq war is draining the treasury, all of these were manifested by the mishandling of the government by the inept people in charge. Rice, grain and corn are all doubled in price in the last few weeks.

How much of an impact is illegal workers having on the US economy? Hmmm...

In any case, farm animals are dependant on grain, and so you can expect meat to dramatically rise in price very soon.

Lets face it. Meat is a disgusting habit and lets hope the price for it goes through the roof. The more people who give up eating flesh, even if for economic reasons, will find they will have less diseases and live more comfortably in the long run.

There was only one obstacle to Obama being president of the United States of America, and today he overcame that obstacle by pulling ahead of Hillary Clinton in the count for Super Delegates.

Soon Hillary will step aside. I hope there will be a Obama/Hillary ticket, she would be an excellent VP and it would set her up to be president one day.

Obama will steam roll McCain in November.
It will be the greatest landslide in US history - you mark my words.
